Stop Your Readers In Their Tracks!
Studies have shown that while 75% of the people read headlines, only 25 % keep reading “the rest of the story”. Breaking it down even further, you have about 4 seconds to convince that reader to read on!
When writing, the two most important elements are your headline and your opening statement. These two elements must stop your readers in their tracks!
Headlines must grab your readers attention. Just as you only get one chance to make a good first impression, you only get once chance to grab your reader’s attention!
For example, when you read an ad, you don’t read it just to be reading, you read it because you are interested in what’s being said. Something about it grabbed your attention. Read the rest of this entry »
Social Media Marketing – The Wave of the Future
The new buzz word is Social Media Marketing and make no mistake, it’s here to stay. No longer is Twitter, and Facebook just for teenagers. Businesses have found out this is THE way to market and brand their business. Why? Because “word of mouth” advertising has always and will always be the best form of advertising and that’s what Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, three of the largest social medias, are all about… making contacts, building relationships, and gaining your trust. They are “word of mouth advertising on steroids” and…it’s FREE!
It’s one-on-one contact in the best of forms, but at the same time you have the ability to reach hundreds, even thousands of people.
Mari Smith, Michael Stelzner , and Gary Vaynerchuk, (to name a few), are talking about the new age of Social Media Marketing and what it means to consumers and business owners. Networking has always been the way to meet people (customers/consumers), and these sites are networking sites. Joining in on the conversations (Tweets) is shaking hands and networking. AND what’s so good about this?? You didn’t even have to leave home.
Newspapers, magazines, telephone books…print media is no longer in control (why they are having problems). Users are in control and it’s a total mind change!
You can now do for free what it use to cost thousands of dollars to do…make contact. With this new change comes new “rules of engagement”. These social media sites are not about making sales, they are about making contact, building relationships…earning trust and credibility. Then those contacts tell everyone they know, who tells everyone they know about you, your business, service, or product…good or bad.
That’s word of mouth advertising in the best of forms…people telling a LOT of other people. But remember, the two most important principles of social media are authenticity and transparency. Whatever is done needs to be done with quality.
The Internet’s only 15 years old. Social media sites are less than 6 years old. To put it in Gary Vaynerchuk’s words (GaryVee as he likes to be called), “We are in the Cave Man’s age of Social Media Marketing”, it ’s just started. It will be awesome to see what comes down the pike and how it will be used to build business relationships and businesses!
So, how about you? Are you still sitting on the surf board or are you ready to “ride the wave” …Social Media Marketing – (IS) The Wave of the Future!

Consistency…Is Everyone On The Same Page?
Ever needed information, asked several different people, and received several different answers?
Even more confusing, how about asking several different people who work in the same office and still receive several different answers?
This happened to me in a practice I was with. It concerned bleaching or whitening the teeth. The patient had received instructions from the assistant as she was being dismissed in the back.
As the patient was checking out, she asked the front desk to explain it to her again and received a different set of instructions.
Confused by the information, when the patient got home, she called the office, spoke to another person and received…you guessed it…. a third set of instructions different from the first two.
This time she asked to speak to the office manager, explained to me what had happened, and expressed her disappointment in the office.
