You’ve done your thought work, know what you want to blog about, and what you want your blog to do.  Now it’s time to select your “theme� (your look), but you don’t quite know where to go or how to start?

Since Write Business uses WordPress.org, these themes will be WordPress themes.  All the sites listed have free downloads available.

As you look through the different themes, have available some blogs you like the look of for comparables. 

You need to determine what “look� you want from your blog.  Keep in mind your blog will grow:
• 2 columns – 3 columns, some even have 4 columns. 
      o The number of columns includes the large “copy� column.  The smaller columns are referred to as “side bars�
• Do you want a large copy column with one side bar or more side bars
• Do you want your side bar(s )to the left of the large copy column or to the right of the large copy column 
• Notice the top – Header- of the theme – is it a wide header for Title and information or is it a narrow header for just one liner info
•  Are you going to be doing advertising on your blog, if so is it Adsense ready
• **Very important: Is it the latest version of WordPress
• Is it compatible for the type of hosting you will have – WordPress hosting (WordPress.com) or your own hosting (WordPress.org)?
• Does it have the plug-ins and widgets you need – can you add more

I’d also recommend purchasing a copy of the book “WordPress for Dummies� by Lisa Sabin-Wilson.  You will find it to be a valuable, unending source of information of “How-To’s� for creating, designing, and using your blog.
